The boutique owner
Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at 9:01AM Owner of the charming boutique Envie d’autres Choses, and long-time Roquefort resident, I put a few questions to Chantal
DH: How long have you lived in Roquefort?
Chantal: 20 years now, although I’ve been in the south a total of 30 years including time I spent in Provence and Marseille.
DH: Where were you born?
Chantal: In Paris, but even as a child I wanted to live in the country and particularly the South.
DH: What’s your favourite gadget, object or thing?
Chantal: It would have to be my vast collection of decoration and home interiors magazines.
DH: If you had the choice of a day out, which would you choose, the mountains or the beach?
Chantal: Most definitely the mountains. And then after I like nothing more than drinking a cup of tea in front of the fire after a long walk.
DH: What’s you favourite guilty food secret?
Chantal: Guimauve sweets, particularly the violet-flavoured ones which my grandmother would give me if I’d been good – and they certainly encouraged me to be good!
DH: What’s your favourite holiday destination?
Chantal: The Tropics, I love the heat.
DH: What do you think is the best thing about Roquefort?
Chantal: The atmosphere and the quality of life.
DH: Is there something that Roquefort lacks?
Chantal: A real heart to the village. A proper place to gather and interact.
DH: If you could change anything about our town, what would you change?
Chantal: Absolutely nothing. It's great to live in Roquefort - it's the best side of the Riviera!
