The mum & housewife
Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 9:55AM I spoke to Brenda, who is originally from Ireland, about her life here in Roquefort les Pins, as a full-time mum and housewife with a son who goes to Mougins School and a husband who works in Sophia...
DH: How long have you lived in Roquefort?
Brenda: It’s been nine years. We already knew what it was like to live in France as we’d lived in Paris before coming here.
DH: Where’s your home town?
Brenda: Limerick in Ireland. I’ve also lived in Dublin.
DH: What attracted you to Roquefort?
Brenda: The peace and quiet balanced with the proximity to the airport, it's very handy.
DH: What’s your favourite gadget, object or thing?
Brenda: I think that would have to be the radio. Even though I can listen to the French radio, if I’m going to listen all day I prefer listening to Irish radio RTE1 via the internet.
DH: Do you have a guilty food pleasure?
Brenda: Chocolate, dark, mint.
DH: Where would you choose to spend a day out, at the beach or in the mountains?
Brenda: Even though I don’t ski, in the mountains as I like hiking.
DH: Where’s your favourite holiday destination?
Brenda: I love going to Italy and it’s very easy to drive there from here. Anywhere in Tuscany and of course when you get there the food is great.
DH: Does our town lack anything in your opinion?
Brenda: It’s a bit sad to say so, but a dry cleaner’s. There was one when we first moved here but now we have to drive to one.
DH: If you could change anything in Roquefort what would it be?
Brenda: The centre needs more character and buzz; it would be great if we had a square with a bit of atmosphere and a few cafés.
