Veronique at the town hall
Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 5:42PM I spoke to Veronique Chiapello, who is the acting communications officer at the town hall (while Isabelle is on maternity leave), to find out what’s coming up between now and the end of the year.
‘It might only be mid October, but we are trying to put everything in place for this year’s Christmas Around The World which is on Saturday December 11.’
So far representatives from Holland, America and Peru have signed-up but Veronique urges all the Scottish, Welsh and English, Australians and New Zealanders as well as the Scandinavians living in Roquefort to join-in and show others how you’d traditionally spend Christmas ‘back home.’
The town hall provides you with a table and chairs, and a tree to decorate and according to past participants it works really well if you are two or three friends showcasing your country’s decorations, food and customs.
This year the emphasis is especially on the family. And it’s good to know that as long as you keep your receipts you’ll be reimbursed for the provisions you buy.
If you’d like to find out more or take part in this year’s event email communication@ville-roquefort-les-pins.fr and mark your email for the attention of Veronique.
She added: ‘And towards the end of the year, there'll be an exhibition celebrating the life of John Lennon at the Cultural Centre.
And there’s also a great drawing competition for children too, and the winner will have their very own design as our mayor’s New Year greetings card for everyone to see and admire! So plenty of things to keep you busy in our town from now until then.'
And finally don't forget if you'd like to subscribe to the town hall's newsletter (in French) you can do so by emailing abonnement@ville-roquefort-les-pins.fr
