The Riviera International Singers
Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 3:17PM Do you love singing? Then maybe The Riviera International Singers is the group for you. This English-speaking choir proudly boasts Scottish, Irish, American, Italian, French, German, Danish, Dutch, and Australian amongst their 40 members and are an extremely social bunch.
They are happy to sing at parties or weddings, but are better known for their wonderful Christmas concerts in Valbonne church, which mark the start of most people’s Christmas countdown locally. And during the summer months their concerts have a lighter theme including jazz, blues or songs from shows.
If you are tempted to find out more and don’t just want to be in audience, they meet every Thursday from 7.30pm to 10pm at Mougins School and it’s easy to go along and have a (private) try out. They always need more men and currently have seven tenors and are looking specifically for bass singers ie those comfortable singing the low notes.
So make a note in your diary, this year’s Christmas Carol Concert in Valbonne is on December 9 & 10, both at 8pm, and at 6pm on December 11. Tickets (which are available on the door) are priced at €10 for adults & €5 for children, (profits go to charitable organisations chosen by the choir), and that includes a warming glass of mulled wine on your way out!
You can support the choir on Facebook, visit their website at http://www.riviera-international-singers.com/ or call Rose Bouyx (in Roquefort) on 04 93 09 66 83 for more info.
