Our local music venue
Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 2:03PM Sadly a few weeks after this interview there is a For Sale sign up outside Quint&Sens ...
Fabienne and Serge from Quint & Sens have been welcoming people through the door since the beginning of 2009 with their seasonal Mediterranean cuisine and they tell me they believe in listening to their clients and trying to improve all the time. Now that’s a refreshing idea...

As a lot of you reading this will already know, Saturday night is jazz night here in Roquefort les Pins. They explain that in summer they have intentionally left Friday as the calmer night, so diners can enjoy a quiet dinner to start off their weekend.
The couple are from Paris originally and have been here six years, like so many of us they were attracted by the sun and lifestyle.
Fabienne loves art and creating an ambience, so has a keen interest in interior decoration. She loves seafood, (especially gambas and scallops), which is reflected on the menu I'm pleased to say.
She admits her naughty food secret is dark chocolate with almonds, or fondant au chocolat – which again they often have on the menu.
And on days off you’re more like to see her heading for the beach than the mountains as she loves the sun.
I’ve never fully understood it, so I asked the couple about the restaurant’s name Quint & Sens.
Serge smiles: ‘It’s simple, Quint et Sens is about the five senses. The idea is that all five of them are taken care of here:
What you see ~ the art on the walls
What you smell ~ Provençal food cooking
What you taste ~ we’ll come back to the menus...
What you hear ~ live music
What you say ~ chatting with your friends
They changed chef a little while back and are currently offering a recession-busting €19 menu, for this you get an entree of charcuterie Italienne and then a choice between beef or salmon, plus dessert.
Should you just want to pop-in for the live music you can do that too and entrance plus a drink and some nibbles has just been lowered to €15.
July 17 promises to be a very important night in their calendar as they welcome Joey Welz who has played with the likes of Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis and Fats Domino, so you are advised to book early.
If you have never been, this is what it’s like...
They have around 30 tables both inside and out. For the non-meat eaters they have woked vegetables, risotto or pasta and there is always fish on the menu too.
Their seasonal menu consists of starters around the €10 mark, with meat or fish mains around €20 and desserts at €7.
If you fancy treating yourself (or someone else) to lunch they are offering an entree, main, dessert, coffee plus a glass of wine for €24, or if you really fancy ‘pushing the bateau out’ the gourmand menus will set you back either €30 or €39.
So if you haven’t already been go along and be pleasantly surprised by what our local restaurant and only live music venue for miles around has to offer.
The restaurant is at
35 route de Notre Dame.
